From: 23 November 2010    To: 25 November 2010

After an absence of six years, the well respected Ausmarine Exhibition and Conference will return to Perth, Western Australia, in November 2010.

The return of Australia’s only specialised commercial maritime trade exhibition
reflects major changes to the nations shipbuilding industry.
“When last presented in Perth in 2003, the AUSMARINE exhibition was dominated by the
local shipbuilding industry, particularly builders of fast ferries, fishing and patrol boats,”
explained organiser Kishore Navani.
“There were no foreign domiciled shipbuilders at all. This time, however, more than half
the shipbuilder exhibitors are foreign domiciled. In addition three of the leading Australian
based shipbuilder exhibitors, Austal, Harwood Marine and Strategic Marine have extensive
operations overseas. The industry has changed drastically in seven years.
“This can be explained partially by Australia’s governments’ dramatic near obliteration of
the local fishing industry; by the near saturation of the global fast ferry market; and finally,
by the rapid growth in the offshore service sector. The latter requiring steel vessels that are
scarcely built in Australia now,” Mr Navani concluded.

A gentle reminder from Baird Events, the organisers of AUSMARINE 2010. The
Exhibition opens at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre at 0945 hrs next Tuesday,
November 23.
While the exhibition, which runs for three days, until Thursday, November 25, has a large
range of exhibits to interest commercial and government mariners of all kinds, there are two
important and thought provoking seminars. Both invite serious industry participants without
charge

“With the AUSMARINE Exhibition, Forums and Seminars almost upon us, I would
like to remind exhibitors and intending visitors alike of the programme of high quality
Product Presentation Seminars that are such an important component of the Event”,
said Organiser Kishore Navani.

If the International Energy Agency’s predictions for the next 25 years are correct,
Australia’s oil and gas industry seems set for very strong growth.
The IEA has predicted enormous Chinese led demand for energy which, for all practical
purposes, will involve oil, natural gas and coal. Australia, obviously, has substantial reserves
of the latter two.
“The inevitable consequence of all those energy exports will be a massive expansion of
Australia’s maritime industry”, said AUSMARINE exhibition organiser Kishore Navani.
“Offshore oil and gas exploration and development will combine with massive new port
construction projects that will require innumerable additional work boats and ships.
“This is why so many leading maritime industry people have already pre-registered
for AUSMARINE 2010, Australia’s only commercially focused marine exhibition”,
Mr Navani explained.

Visitor pre-registrations for the AUSMARINE 2010 Exhibition and Conferences
in Perth, Australia continue to pour in to the organisers in unprecedentedly
large numbers.
“Not only have they come at more than double the rate for previous AUSMARINE events,
vastly larger numbers have come from people outside Australia,” said event organiser
Kishore Navani.

To be held in Perth in November, the AUSMARINE 2010 exhibition will be enhanced by two focused and very appropriate conferences. Both are being designed to educate, inform and inspire delegates as to the very real commercial opportunities arising in the Indian Ocean
