Coastal surveillance preventing Singapore from becoming a war risk zone

Since the turn of the decade, 75 attacks were reported in the Malacca Straits in 2000, 38 in 2004, 12 in 2005, 2 in 2008. Despite the significant decline in piracy there has been an increase in sea piracy in waters near Singapore.
